War, Love, Cactus

The idea: to write a poem on the theme mentioned above

the entries so far

after years of yielding thorns
the cactus relents
to my demands...
my faith in faith reinforced.
-by Janani

The war had just ended
The cactus just bloomed
Miles of desert sands left bare
Footsteps blown away to places unheld.

Your love like the sand dunes.

My heart the flower on thorny beds.
-by Ashwini

By You?

Sands of infinity
Wars of the inhuman
Left me - the cactus -
Lifeless and still

Came along like a boundless breeze, you did
Reviving me - the cactus -
Flowery and strong

How to write Chinese poetry! I understand there's one style of Chinese poem called Yuefu that has five characters per line

With the usual Chinese poetry
the first line introduces a topic second line continuation of that topic third line brings in a second topic and fourth line
brings both topics together into thematic unity by a finishing sentence. You can illustrate it in a poem though!..check out my blog got chinese culture on there might be of interest, blessings.

Hey, nice to see your blog. Cactus, war and love? Wow, ok..

Growing in such isolation
Why do you still seem at war?
You issue thorns as your answers
Pray, who is this sharpness for?

Somewhere within you,
there must be a hint of love
Feel safe to tell the sand dunes
Or the strech of sky above!
